Fire curtain manufacturer A1S Group is running its accredited CPD seminar, “The Functionality, Design and Compliance of Fire and Smoke Curtains”, online for architectural specifiers, fire engineers, and main contractors.
A1S Group, which manufactures fire curtains, smoke curtains and fire shutters in the UK, has developed a one-hour CPD seminar for the professionals who specify them. The session is accredited by the RIBA and holds CPD validation from the Institution of Fire Engineers.
The seminar is delivered online by the company’s technical team and covers three areas:
- The regulations and standards that apply to fire and smoke curtains, and the common misconceptions surrounding them
- How fire and smoke curtains are installed, operated and maintained
- The common applications for each product type, and how each performs
A recurring theme in the sessions is the distinction between BS 8524-1 & 2 and BS EN 16034, and what each means in practice for a specifier signing off a fire strategy. The seminar sets out where each applies rather than offering product recommendations.
Andy Martin, Sales Consultant at A1S Group, said: “The feedback from our CPD sessions has been consistently positive. Attendees regularly tell us that the content is genuinely educational rather than product-led, providing clear, impartial insights into the key issues and challenges currently shaping the industry. These are the same questions and discussion points we encounter on almost every project we support, so developing a dedicated CPD programme was a natural way to address them in greater depth. By focusing on knowledge sharing rather than sales messaging, our CPD gives contractors, architects and fire engineers practical, actionable guidance that delivers real value and can be applied with confidence in their day-to-day work.”
Mick Speight, Director at A1S Group, said: “We are committed to investing in knowledge and raising standards across the industry. Fire and smoke curtain regulations continue to evolve, yet the market does not always receive a clear explanation of what has changed, why it matters and how it should be applied. We believe better-informed specifiers make better decisions, regardless of which manufacturer they ultimately choose. This CPD has been developed to provide that clarity and help support safer, more compliant buildings.”
The seminar is free to attend, lasts one hour, and carries CPD points for attendees. Sessions run online on scheduled dates throughout the year.
